Rant and Rave: Reader had leak looked at quickly

by · The Seattle Times

RAVE to Seattle Public Utilities. Over the recent long weekend, we noticed a water leak on the outside. We called Seattle Public Utilities and explained it was NOT an emergency but would like it checked sometime. Within two hours, we were met by a friendly, very knowledgeable technician who checked out everything and explained in detail where he believed the leak was originating. He recommended the next steps we should take and determined that because it was minor, it could be looked at later. He thoroughly cleaned up the area he dug around the manhole. He went above the call of duty, and we much appreciated the service he provided.

RANT to those who treat alleys like arterials. The speed limit is 20, not 40, and for good reasons. Children and animals cross alleys, and it’s their city, too.
