14 Real Acts of Kindness in the Kitchen, From 240 Christmas Tamales to a Stranger’s Chicken Noodle Soup and T. Rex Pancakes
Kindness doesn’t always come with a speech. Sometimes it comes in a thermos, a casserole dish or a paper plate covered in foil. And cooking for others may be good for the cook, too. In a University of Otago study, 658 young adults kept daily diaries for 13 days. On days they spent time on creative activities like cooking and baking, they reported more enthusiasm and a stronger sense of flourishing the next day. Every act of kindness below started in a kitchen, with a recipe, a hobby or a little compassion, and each one proves happiness tastes better shared.
