Myanmar Discovers Promising Offshore Gas Reserves Estimated at 106 Trillion Cubic Feet
Myanmar has discovered promising natural gas reserves in offshore areas of the Ayeyarwady and Tanintharyi regions, with the two blocks estimated to contain up to 106 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, according to information released by the President’s Office News and Information Bureau. Myanmar currently produces natural gas from several offshore projects. In addition to existing shallow-water fields, geologists have confirmed the presence of substantial gas deposits in deepwater offshore areas based on 3D seismic surveys and exploratory drilling results.
