Myanmar and Laos have signed a joint agreement to carry out a feasibility study for hydropower projects along the Mekong River on their shared border, marking a key step in expanding bilateral energy cooperation. The agreement was signed on 4 July at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Vientiane during the Myanmar President’s state goodwill visit to Laos. It follows a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the electricity sector between the two countries.
