New Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (DEMU) coaches commenced operations on the Yangon Circular Railway on November 29. An inauguration ceremony held at Yangon railway  station marked the completion of the railway upgrade project and the introduction of Spanish-imported DEMU coaches. The event was attended by Chairman of the State Administration Council Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
