U.S. health officials are investigating an outbreak of E. coli tied to now-recalled organic whole bagged carrots and baby carrots from Grimmway Farms.

Nov. 18 (UPI) -- A California grower has issued a nationwide recall of organic carrots it produced for some of the country's leading supermarkets over an E. coli outbreak, including Albertsons, Kroger, Publix, Trader Joe's, Walmart and Whole Foods.

An E. coli outbreak linked to recalled carrots has led to dozens of illnesses in 18 states and one death, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.

One person has died and others are in hospital after eating the carrots, officials say.
