The owner of an animal rescue shelter in Wierden, her colleague, and her husband all tested positive for cowpox, a viral infection that is rare in humans. The namesake behind Jolanda Kittens Wierden told RTL that she likely contracted the virus from a kitten who had probably been infected by a mouse."Cowpox-I had never heard of it,” said the 57-year-old woman. “A very shy kitten called Rox was brought in. I could see something was wrong, so I took it to the vet.”
