Xi called for US-China cooperation on AI, Taiwan, Iran and trade, while urging managed competition, regular military communication and a 'new approach' to bilateral ties despite unresolved strategic differences.

Chinese President Xi Jinping said the US and China share a responsibility to ensure AI development remains under human control and is used for the benefit of humanity.

Speaking alongside Trump in the White House Grand Foyer on Thursday, Xi said the two countries had both emerged as global leaders in AI and therefore carried a special responsibility over how the technology develops.
