Stefanos Tsitsipas has powered into the Tokyo Open main draw after dispatching Australia’s Rinky Hijikata in straight sets.

The Greek world No. 44 defeated the world No. 82 6-4, 6-3 in just 66 minutes, completing a dominant run through qualifying.

Tsitsipas remained composed throughout the opening set as both players held serve comfortably.

The decisive moment came at 5-4, when the Greek broke Hijikata’s serve to take the opening set.

Tsitsipas carried that momentum into the second set, breaking early to move 2-0 ahead.

From there, he maintained control and closed out the match without allowing Hijikata a route back into the contest.

The victory gives Tsitsipas a place in the main draw of the ATP 500 Tokyo Open, where he will face one of four potential opponents.

His first round opponent will be Taylor Fritz, Rafael Jódar, Tomás Martín Etcheverry or Luca Van Assche.

The Greek star now turns his attention to the main draw as he looks to build momentum in Tokyo.
