Myanmar workers in Thailand can apply for recommendation letters at 150 Baht each
· Eleven Media Group Co., LtdMyanmar migrant workers in Thailand who plan to return temporarily to Myanmar are now able to apply for recommendation letters at a fee of 150 baht per document, according to an announcement released by the Myanmar Embassy in Bangkok on April 29.
The measure aims to streamline the processing of OWIC (Overseas Worker Identification Card) matters and reduce delays for workers traveling back to Myanmar on leave. Starting from May 5, 2026, applicants can submit requests either in person or through a representative at the Labour Attaché Office in Bangkok, located at No. 32/105, Pan Road, Silom, Bangrak. Applications will be accepted daily from 9:00 am. to 4:00 pm.
Each recommendation letter will cost 150 baht. Applicants are required to provide the necessary supporting documents, including: a copy of the passport (main page) and valid visa page, a copy of the national registration card, a copy of the OWIC card, a job transfer document (if the worker has changed employers since applying for OWIC), a copy of the work permit, a leave approval letter from the employer or company, a copy of the flight ticket, and the original bank deposit slip showing payment of 150 baht per letter to the embassy’s account at Bangkok Bank (Account No. 101-348-1922, Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar).
The embassy emphasized that all required documents must be submitted together with the application to ensure smooth processing.
