Union Minister U Tin Aung San appointed as National Security Advisor
· Eleven Media Group Co., LtdThe President’s Office has announced the appointment of Union Minister U Tin Aung San as National Security Advisor, according to Order No. 47/2026.
The order states that U Tin Aung San, currently serving as Union Minister at the President’s Office, has been assigned the additional role to provide comprehensive analysis and advice on national security matters to the President and the President’s Office.
U Tin Aung San previously held the rank of Admiral in the Myanmar Armed Forces and served as Commander-in-Chief (Navy). Between February 1, 2021, and April 9, 2026, he held multiple senior positions under successive administrations, including member of the State Administration Council, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Transport and Communications, Minister of Defense, Union Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Union Minister in the President’s Office (1), and National Security Advisor.
Under the current government led by President U Min Aung Hlaing, U Tin Aung San has been reappointed as Union Minister at the President’s Office and has now also been assigned the role of National Security Advisor.
