Ryanair carried record 22.2m passengers in July

Ryanair said its monthly passenger numbers reached an all-time high of more than 22 million in July.

The airline said its passenger numbers rose to 22.2 million from 20.8 million in July of last year - an increase of 7%.

Its load factor - how many seats it fills on each flight - was steady at 96%.

Ryanair said it operated over 120,800 flights in July.

It also said it carried 213.2 million passengers in the 12 months to the end of July - a 5% rise year-on-year.

Ryanair recently revealed that its quarterly profits slumped by more than a third as the price of jet fuel doubled because of the Iran war.

The carrier reported a 34% drop in profits after tax to €538m for the three months to the end of June.

It said earnings were affected by surging jet fuel prices for the 20% of its fuel needs that was not locked in, as well as a 6% drop in average fares to boost demand.

Ryanair shares dipped in Dublin trade today.
