Rep. Ilhan Omar’s walls are closing in

OPINION:

Homeland Security agents executed a search warrant for the home of Rep. Ilhan Omar, reportedly as part of a long-running investigation into fraud allegations concerning the Somali-born congresswoman’s immigration paperwork.

Finally. 

This is a woman who has thumbed her nose at America, even as she’s benefited greatly from America, and all primarily at taxpayers’ expense. The Minnesota Democrat condemned President Trump, condemned the entire MAGA movement, condemned America’s strongest ally, Israel, and sought to use her political platform to tear down the very Western values that have given her such expansive opportunities in the first place.

People were interested in these podcasts

“Some people did something” — is how she described the radical Islamist terror attacks on America from Sept. 11, 2001.

“We are not merely fighting to tear down the systems of oppression in the criminal justice system. We are fighting to tear down systems of oppression that exist in housing, in education, in health care, in employment, in the air we breathe,” she said at a public event in July 2020.

America’s air is infected with oppression?

“[America is] … now be[ing] turned into one of the, you know, one of the worst countries,” she said in 2025, in an interview about the deployment of federal troops to calm massive riots in Los Angeles.

And yet: She won’t go back to Somalia.

In May, Vice President J.D. Vance spoke publicly on what everybody already knew about Omar, and has known, since her rise in the political arena — that is, the matter of her marriage; the matter of her reputed marriage to her brother; the matter of her family finances and her speedy amendment of her disclosure forms to reflect net worths between $6 million and $30 million to between $18,004 and $95,000.

From CBS in May: “Vance claimed … the U.S. Department of Justice is investigating Rep. Ilhan Omar, while raising questions about immigration fraud and family finances. ‘We’re going to investigate it. If we think that there’s a crime, we’re going to prosecute that crime. … I mean, you read the things about Ilhan Omar and about, you know, who she married and whether she didn’t marry this person or that person. It certainly seems like something fishy is there.’”

Fishy, indeed.

Fishy enough that all of America, outside of the Omar sycophants and hard-core leftists who comprise her base, have been waiting and wondering and wondering some more about when this woman who so scorns America while simultaneously so benefiting from America is going to be investigated. And held to account. And prosecuted, if that’s where the facts lead.

“Today in the Washington, D.C., area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice. This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal investigation,” the DOJ put out in a press release.

Omar didn’t immediately respond.

But her fawners in the media have already swung into propaganda mode.

MS Now reported the event with this notable paragraph: “Omar is the first Somali American elected to Congress, and a prominent member of a group of progressive female lawmakers known as The Squad. She has been a frequent target of attacks from President Donald Trump, who has demanded she be investigated over her immigration status.”

There you have it: Omar is a victim.

This is how the left always plays it when accountability is coming. And few have thrown the victim card as frequently as Omar. Expect more of the same no matter what evidence of crime and fraud comes. Her walls are closing in, but one thing is certain: Omar will never, ever, never admit to any wrongdoing. She will forever blame Trump for all.
