Four buried in Monghsu landslide triggered by torrential rain, three bodies recovered
· Eleven Media Group Co., LtdFour people were trapped when a hillside collapsed onto two houses following heavy rainfall in Hosai Village, Hsaingshan area of Monghsu Township, southern Shan State, on the morning of 8 September.
The incident occurred around 7:00 am near work plot (L/20) in the Hsaingshan area, where a hillside landslide struck two houses. One of the houses was vacant, while a family of four resided in the other.
Upon receiving reports that four individuals—three males and one female—were buried under the debris, regular and auxiliary firefighters from the Loisawnhktauk Auxiliary Fire Station, alongside relevant organizations, conducted a joint search and rescue operation.
According to the Fire Services Department, the body of one male victim was recovered around 7:30 am, and the bodies of two other males were found around 12:20 pm.
The three recovered bodies were transported to the Loisawnhktauk Station Hospital in Monghsu Township, while search and rescue operations are ongoing to locate the remaining female victim.
