St Cuthbert's College investigating allegations against former staff member
· RNZA prestigious Auckland private school is investigating allegations of inappropriate conduct against a former boarding school staff member.
St Cuthbert's College Board chairperson Leigh Melville said in a statement the school had taken immediate action and the staff member no longer worked for the college.
Emails sent to parents and staff, seen by RNZ, said the review would look at concerns that boundaries between students and staff were crossed.
"This includes reviewing allegations of overly personal communication, and interactions that may not have been in keeping with the professional standards we expect of all our staff."
The email said the staff member did not have unsupervised interactions with day students.
Melville said the school would be providing additional pastoral support to students and boarding staff while the investigation was ongoing.
"We recognise that receiving this communication will be concerning. Please be assured that the care and wellbeing of our students is our absolute priority."
