A mechanic working at a trucking repair yard died Wednesday in what the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office called a “fatal industrial collision.”

Deputies responded to the repair yard, near Belmont and LaFayette avenues, around 4 p.m. after receiving a call for an injured person at the location. Those injuries turned out to be major, the sheriff’s office said, and while deputies gave medical aid, the man died.

He has yet to be identified, but was in his 20s, the sheriff’s office said.

The man was working in the yard when he “got between a semi-truck (tractor) that was hooking up to a trailer. The man became pinned and was crushed.“

Cal-OSHA is investigating the collision, which happened on private property.
