Avengers: Endgame Now Has More Robert Downey Jr.

When you think of movies where actors brilliantly pull off multiple roles, you think of Mike Myers in Austin Powers, Michael B. Jordan in Sinners, or maybe even Lindsay Lohan in The Parent Trap. Now, add another movie to the list: Avengers: Endgame. Yes, the Marvel movie that came out seven years ago has been reedited for its theatrical rerelease ahead of the upcoming sequel Avengers: Doomsday. The new version of the film now has four extra minutes, per Variety. The new scenes feature fan-favorite characters like Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner, but also the upcoming major Marvel villain, Robert Downey Jr.’s Dr. Doom. Of course, Downey also plays Iron Man in the movie, meaning he just … plays two characters in it now. Okay!

The scenes, which were shot during Doomsday filming, aim to make the line between Endgame and Doomsday clearer. One of the scenes includes Chris Evans’s Captain America speaking with Loki. After his final dance with Peggy in the past, where he was intending to stay, present-day Loki visits, presumably sharing information that will get him back on the team. In another scene, Bruce Banner is attempting to create a serum that will stop him from Hulking out. Then, Dr. Doom arrives. We don’t know what happens next. The final new scene is right at the end: The original film ended with the sound of Iron Man making his first suit. Now, you see Dr. Doom making his mask. Double Downey!

This is the latest stunt in Marvel PR campaign for Doomsday. It previously unveiled the cast with a dramatic video, released teasers, and created Infinity Vision to spite Imax. That last one comes because Dune 3 will be taking all the Imax screens when both movies premiere, so Disney invented a new term to describe screenings that meet certain technical standards, like screen size, laser projection, and immersive audio. Yes, that mostly does just describe a normal movie theater. Check out the new scenes in theaters now or go see Doomsday when it releases December 18.
