Get Caught Up in The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth

There’s a strange kind of Hollywood math going on this fall surrounding The Social Network. The spiritual sequel to that movie is Luca Guadagnino’s Sam Altman movie, Artificial, starring Andrew Garfield, who played Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin in that first film. The actual sequel is The Social Reckoning, which stars none of the original cast but is being written and directed by TSN’s screenwriter Aaron Sorkin. And then David Fincher, who actually directed that 2010 film, is helming a sequel to Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood that Tarantino wrote but decided not to direct. That last movie is The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, which just released a trailer. Appropriately, it looks at the weird side of Hollywood — dark, mysterious, and potentially deadly.

The film is set eight years after the events of OUTH, and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Rick Dalton is gone from stuntman Cliff Booth’s (Brad Pitt) life. “Rick got too fat for me to double for him anymore,” Cliff explains. Now, in grimy, late-’70s Hollywood, he’s working as a “fixer” for any troubles. The movie is set in motion when an agent (Elizabeth Debicki) calls Cliff in to help her client, a TV star named Charlie Peters (Scott Caan), whose circle includes his wife (Carla Gugino) and a former football player (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II). And Cliff is the steady man who has to keep it all together. “Whatever it is you’re thinking, it ain’t what you think,” he tells someone over the phone. Sure, buddy. The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth will premiere in Imax on November 25 and debut on Netflix on December 23. So, basically, you’re spending at least one family holiday with Brad Pitt.
