Oh, That’s Why Mary Beth Barone and Joe Alwyn Were Together

Moving forward, when you see Mary Beth Barone photographed with a hot guy, it’s safe to assume it’s a work thing. Comedian and Overcompensating star Barone will star opposite Joe Alwyn in an upcoming movie she wrote, Still We Met, per Deadline. According to the site, the comedy is inspired by her life experiences and will follow a woman over one revealing night with a British man, presumably played by Alwyn. (Barone has previously discussed dating and then being dumped by a hot British guy.) The movie will be directed by the multimedia artist Zackary Drucker, best known for her work about the trans community. This will be her feature directorial debut. Additionally, if anyone needs another reason to be excited, one of the executive producers is Lena Dunham.

The movie was initially teased with a wily fake relationship. Barone and Alwyn went out for an evening together, with the gossip account DeuxMoi posting the two hanging out until late at night. “PageSix” wrote about their meetups and so did TMZ, which said that Alwyn was “stepping out with another woman.” Previously, Barone mentioned on Late Night With Seth Meyers that she got into a PR relationship with actor Lucas Bravo to promote her Netflix special, Galaxy Brain. Now she’s using a similar technique to announce her movie: “Hard launching this project,” she wrote on her Instagram feed alongside some selfies with Alwyn. They (Barone and the concept of career growth) look so cute together.
