by COLlive Editor · COLliveA new painting inspired by Donald J. Trump and America’s 250th anniversary is drawing attention for its powerful blend of patriotic and Jewish symbolism.
Created in honor of the White House’s Jewish American Heritage Month proclamation, the artwork reflects the President’s designation of this coming Shabbos as “Shabbos 250,” celebrating 250 years of America.
Artist Chanie Chanin explained that the painting was inspired by the Jewish teaching that “Just one Shabbos and we will all be free” — the idea that fully observing a single Shabbos with true intention and dedication can bring spiritual redemption and inner peace.
At the center of the painting is an eagle, symbolizing Moshiach. The American eagle, officially adopted as the national symbol of the United States in 1782, represents freedom, strength, independence, and resilience.
The piece prominently features red, blue, and white tones inspired by the American flag, accented with gold paint. The artist noted that America has long been known among Jews as the “Goldene Medina” — Yiddish for the “Golden Land” — a country that provided Jews with the freedom to practice their traditions openly.
Silver paint was also incorporated into the artwork as a tribute to the honor and beauty of Shabbos.
“May this Shabbos bring much peace to our nation and the entire world,” the artist said.
The acrylic-on-canvas painting measures 24×36 inches.
