Woman in court over fatal road crash in Co Louth
· RTE.ieA woman has appeared before Dundalk District Court charged in connection with a fatal road crash on the R166 in Co Louth last year.
Martina Meehan, aged 56, is accused of dangerous driving causing the death of Arthur Daly at Lynns, Annagassan on 14 July last year.
Sgt Dave O'Leary, who gave evidence of arresting the defendant at Dundalk Garda Station this morning, said Ms Meehan made no reply when the charge was put to her after caution.
After hearing the DPP has directed trial on indictment, Judge Nicola Andrews remanded the accused on bail on her own bond of €200 and a €2,000 independent surety, with cash to be lodged.
The case was adjourned to Dundalk District Court on 7 January for the preparation of a book of evidence.
As part of her bail, the defendant must reside at the Carrickdale Hotel, where she works as a waitress, until she moves to her new address at Woodlands, Newry.
She must also be contactable to gardaí by mobile phone.
