Iran newspaper names Cyprus and Greece among potential military targets
by Bill Giannopoulos · Greek City TimesAn Iranian newspaper has published a map identifying military installations in Cyprus, Greece and seven other European countries as potential targets in the event of a major escalation involving Iran.
The front page of Hamshahri, published on Tuesday, November 3, featured military sites across nine European countries under the headline “We’ll see what happens.”
The map includes the British military base at Akrotiri in Cyprus, as well as military installations in Greece, Britain, Germany, France and Italy.
The publication’s report argues that European military infrastructure supporting US operations could be considered legitimate targets by Tehran if the conflict escalates.

Kayhan also names Cyprus and Greece
Another Iranian publication, the hardline newspaper Kayhan, has reportedly identified Cyprus and Greece among countries where American or NATO military facilities could be targeted.
The reports come amid renewed military tensions following limited US strikes against Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz on Monday. Washington described the operation as defensive, saying it was aimed at Iranian forces threatening US assets. reuters.com+1
Pezeshkian calls for closer ties with Cyprus
The developments also come as Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed support for strengthening relations with Cyprus.
During a meeting in Tehran to receive the credentials of Cyprus’s new ambassador, Pezeshkian spoke about the historical relationship between the two countries and called for greater bilateral cooperation.

The important distinction is that the newspaper reports do not constitute an official Iranian announcement of plans to attack Cyprus or Greece. They nevertheless highlight how military facilities associated with US and NATO operations could become part of the wider strategic calculations if the conflict escalates.
