The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) has issued a special warning of possible heavy rains and strong winds in some regions and states due to moving whirlwinds and atmospheric disturbances from the South China Sea.

The DMH reports that this weather instability is likely to occur between November 6 and November 8. It is caused by whirlwinds moving in from the South China Sea, warm winds from the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea, and cool air from a high-pressure area over China, leading to instability in the southeastern Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea.

As a result, scattered rain and thunderstorms, along with heavy rain and strong winds in some areas, are expected in Chin State, Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, and Tanintharyi Region. Light rain in isolated areas is also forecast for Nay Pyi Taw, Magway Region, Bago Region, Yangon Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Shan State, Rakhine State, Kayah State, Kayin State, and Mon State.

The DMH has advised caution as heavy rainfall, strong winds, thunderstorms, lightning, hail, flash floods, and landslides in hilly areas are possible. Warnings have also been issued for inland water transport and domestic flights to prepare for these potential severe weather conditions.
