Two Houses Destroyed in Myitkyina Fire Sparked by Domestic Argument
· Eleven Media Group Co., LtdTwo houses were destroyed in a fire after a husband allegedly burned clothes during an argument with his wife in Myitkyina Township, according to reports.
The incident occurred at around 3:20 p.m. on May 8 in Auk Mawphaung Village, Ward (1), on Aung Maw Zan Monastery Road. A married couple reportedly got into an argument, and the husband allegedly set fire to clothing, causing the flames to spread to a nearby bamboo wall.
As a result, a single-story house measuring 32 by 24 feet, with a corrugated iron roof and bamboo walls, was destroyed by the fire. Another nearby single-story house measuring 30 by 20 feet was also burned down. In total, two homes were lost in the blaze.
Firefighters from the Myitkyina District and Township Fire Services Department, reserve firefighters, and military personnel from the air force responded to the scene and extinguished the fire within 20 minutes.
Authorities said a 40-year-old man identified as U La Taung, who allegedly started the fire, has been charged under Section 436 of the Penal Code by the Myitkyina regional police station.
