Two Teenagers Drown in Thanlwin River Near Hpa-An
by Bo Bo Myint · Eleven Media Group Co., LtdTwo teenage boys drowned while swimming in the Thanlwin River near Bat Cave, close to Bar Kat village in Hpa-An Township, Kayin State, according to local rescue groups.
The incident occurred at around 5:15 p.m. on April 11. The victims, aged 15 and 14, were residents of staff housing at the Myain Galay cement factory.
Search and rescue teams, including the fire brigade and local volunteer groups, carried out recovery operations. The body of the 15-year-old was found at about 8:30 p.m. near the Thanlwin Bridge (Hpa-An) and taken to Hpa-An People’s Hospital. The 14-year-old’s body was recovered the following morning at around 8:40 a.m. and also transported to the same hospital.
