Myanmar says discussions held on launching satellite with China
· Eleven Media Group Co., LtdMyanmar's presidential spokesperson said discussions were held during President U Min Aung Hlaing's recent visit to China on the possibility of launching a satellite in the near future for agricultural development, environmental conservation, and meteorological monitoring.
Dr. Khine Khine Soe, spokesperson for the President, made the remarks while responding to media questions regarding the state visit undertaken by President U Min Aung Hlaing to China from June 15 to 19 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
According to Dr. Khine Khine Soe, experts from Myanmar and China discussed cooperation in space technology, including plans to jointly launch a satellite that would support agricultural activities, environmental protection, and weather observation.
“We were able to discuss the launch of a satellite in the near future through cooperation between Myanmar and Chinese experts. In that sense, the President’s visit can be regarded as the beginning of a new step for Myanmar in the field of space technology,” she said.
The presidential spokesperson described the five-day goodwill visit as successful in achieving its objectives. She said the trip yielded positive results politically, diplomatically, and economically, bringing back initiatives that would benefit the people of Myanmar.
Dr. Khine Khine Soe added that agreements were signed between businesses (B-to-B) and that 18 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were concluded at the government-to-government (G-to-G) level. The agreements cover a wide range of sectors, including environmental conservation, information and communications, healthcare, and social affairs.
She said the outcomes of the visit would bring tangible benefits to the country and its people and characterized the trip as one that would contribute positively to Myanmar’s future development.
