Myanmar President, Indian Minister of State for External Affairs discuss expediting bilateral projects

Mr. Kirti Vardhan Singh, at the President’s residence on the afternoon of April 10. The Indian minister was in Myanmar to attend the President’s swearing-in ceremony.
During the meeting, Mr. Kirti Vardhan Singh conveyed a congratulatory message from Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi to the President.
Both sides cordially discussed the significance of the visit to the swearing-in ceremony and reaffirmed the long-standing diplomatic relations, friendship, and cooperation between the two neighboring countries. They also exchanged views on expanding bilateral trade, including the ongoing efforts to increase trade as they have agreed to allow direct payments in rupees and kyats in the trade sector, as well as accelerating ongoing joint projects.
Discussions further focused on maintaining peace and stability in border areas and enhancing border trade between the two nations.
The meeting was attended by Union Minister for the President’s Office U Khin Maung Yi, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Tin Maung Swe, Indian Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Abhay Thakur, and other officials.
