Electricity has been restored to parts of Natogyi Township in Myingyan District, Mandalay Region, more than a year after power lines and substations were damaged by instability and sabotage that began on August 10, 2024.

Power infrastructure serving the township—including 230 kV and 132 kV transmission lines and local substations—was severely damaged, causing prolonged outages that affected eight urban wards and 188 villages, with nearly 28,000 electricity users impacted.

Following security arrangements, engineers from the Electricity Transmission and Control Department, along with 38 technicians, repaired the main transmission lines by September 2025. Repairs to the 33 kV Myingyan–Natogyi distribution line were completed in November, followed by inspections and restoration of town distribution lines, substations, and transformers.

As a first phase, priority locations such as the township hospital, government offices, and key sites regained power after temporary transformer replacements and line repairs. Electricity was restored to these areas starting at 2:50 p.m. on December 14, 2025.

Currently, about 25 percent of the township has access to electricity, and repair work is ongoing to expand power supply to remaining wards and villages.
