Meghalaya murder victim Raja Raghuvanshi's brothers booked in Indore liquor case

The brothers of Meghalaya honeymoon murder victim Raja Raghuvanshi were arrested by Indore police for allegedly serving liquor without a licence at a dhaba operating in his name in Madhya Pradesh's Indore.

Indore police have arrested two brothers of Raja Raghuvanshi, who was killed during his honeymoon in Meghalaya last year, for allegedly serving liquor to customers without a valid licence at a dhaba operating in his name.

The Rau police conducted a routine inspection of hotels and dhabas in the area and found that liquor was allegedly being served to customers without the required permission at Raja Bhoj Dhaba on CAT Road.

According to ACP Nidhi Saxena, six people, including dhaba manager Sachin Raghuvanshi and operator Vipin Raghuvanshi, were booked in the case under relevant provisions of the Excise Act.

Police also found that details of employees working at the dhaba had not been submitted to the police station as required. Action was subsequently taken against operator Vipin Raghuvanshi. A separate case was also registered for allegedly violating an order under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Police said Sachin and Vipin are the elder brothers of Raja Raghuvanshi and had been operating the dhaba in his name.

The two brothers were produced before a court and were sent to jail following the court's order.

Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam had travelled from Indore to Meghalaya for their honeymoon in May 2025. The couple went missing during the trip, after which Raja's body was recovered from a deep gorge.

The subsequent investigation alleged that Sonam had conspired with her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha and hired others to kill Raja. Sonam was arrested in June 2025 and has been facing trial along with the other accused.
