After 51 years, Emergency enters NCERT's Class 9 textbooks
NCERT has introduced the 1975–77 National Emergency in the Grade 9 Social Science syllabus for the first time, placing it in Chapter 6 of Understanding Society India and Beyond Part 1.

In a historic overhaul of school curricula under the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), NCERT has officially introduced the topic of the 1975–77 National Emergency into the Grade 9 Social Science syllabus for the very first time.
The landmark inclusion features prominently in Chapter 6 of the newly released textbook, titled "Key Features of Social Science textbook “Understanding Society India and Beyond” for Grade 9 Part 1
Previously, detailed lessons on the Emergency era were reserved strictly for Senior Secondary (Class 12) Political Science students.
This year, 51 years have been completed since emergency was imposed.
