by Alicia Barrera · 5 NBCDFWIn South Dallas, one man was shot and killed and two others were injured after an alleged road rage shooting.
Police were called to the 4500 block of South Fitzhugh Avenue around 11 p.m. on Thursday.
"They were like, baa baa, baa baa. It was frequent. I say like a lower caliber gun," witness Anthony Smith said.
South of Haskell Avenue on South Fitzhugh, an alleged road rage incident escalated to gunfire and ended on the bridge overnight, where fresh crime scene tape and shattered glass could be seen.
Two businesses in the area have video of the shooting that happened just after 11 p.m., but until investigators take a look, the owners say they won't share it publicly.
The video shows a black sedan being tailgated by a small white SUV. The vehicles make it to a bridge where a confrontation happens, and moments later, gunfire can be heard.
"That's crazy. It ain't none that serious. No, it's not. Come on now. It's late. Just take it easy. Go home," said Smith, who heard the gunfire.
At the scene, authorities said a total of three people were shot.
Two people were rushed to the hospital, where one remains in critical condition, and the third person died at the scene.
The Medical Examiner's Office has not identified them.
As of Friday afternoon, the shooter has not been arrested.
While data shows violent crime is down in District 7, Smith says that’s not his experience.
“This is a high, crime is heavy over here,” Smith said.
We reached out to District 7 Council Member Adam Bazaldua for comment; however, we were told he was not available.
