Planning to buy the Maruti Suzuki Fronx? Upcoming facelift likely to add these features
A camouflaged test mule of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx facelift has been spotted, hinting at an upcoming update with subtle styling tweaks, added features and potential tech enhancements.
by Saumya Shubham Jha · India TodayMaruti Suzuki Fronx appears to be gearing up for a mid-cycle update, as a camouflaged test mule has been spotted undergoing road trials. Introduced in April 2023, the crossover has quickly become a strong performer for Maruti Suzuki, ranking among the top-selling Nexa models. While the company has not confirmed an official timeline, the facelift is expected to arrive later this year or early next year.
Subtle exterior revisions, updated cabin likely
The test vehicle remains heavily disguised, with camouflage covering key areas such as the front grille, hinting at minor styling revisions. Interestingly, masking extends to the rear quarter glass as well, suggesting possible tweaks or additions in that area.
Inside, details are limited, but covered door panels indicate a refreshed interior theme, possibly including new upholstery or colour options. The current 9-inch infotainment system could make way for a larger touchscreen with an updated interface and additional features. There is also speculation that the facelift may finally introduce equipment such as ventilated seats, a fully digital instrument cluster and even a sunroof to keep pace with evolving segment expectations.
Powertrain options to continue, new tech under evaluation
Mechanically, the updated model is likely to retain its existing engine lineup. This includes the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 88bhp, alongside the more potent 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit delivering 100bhp. A factory-fitted CNG option based on the 1.2-litre engine is also expected to continue, albeit with a lower output of 78hp. Transmission choices should remain unchanged, with manual gearboxes standard and a torque-converter automatic offered on the turbo variants.
Beyond the conventional powertrains, Maruti Suzuki is reportedly evaluating more advanced solutions for the Fronx. A range-extender hybrid system is said to be under study, with a potential efficiency figure of 35–40kmpl on the test cycle, aligning with stricter CAFE 3 emission norms set to come into effect in 2027.
In parallel, the carmaker is also exploring flex-fuel technology. A concept version capable of running on E85 (85 percent ethanol blend) was showcased at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, and a production-spec version could follow in the future.
With demand for compact SUVs continuing to rise, the refreshed Fronx is expected to build on its existing strengths with slight design updates and a more feature-rich cabin.
