2026 Toyota Vellfire Updated In Japan – India Bound?

Toyota has introduced some improvements to its Alphard and Vellfire luxury minivans. These are considered to be the gold standard when it comes to a first-class chauffeured experience. Rivals include high-end luxury minivans like the Mercedes-Benz V-Class and even MG M9 in India. The company is yet to confirm whether these updates will make it to India or not.
2026 Vellfire and Alphard – What’s new?
With the updated Vellfire and Alphard, a new Neutral Black exterior colour has been introduced. This is available with all variants of Vellfire. Inside, the Bronze Sputtering accent trim is now standard across all variants. Earlier, this treatment was available exclusively with the Executive Lounge models. Frequency-sensitive shock absorbers are now being offered as standard across all variants to enhance ride comfort.
Alphard gets some additional updates such as 18-inch aluminium wheels in Hyperchrome Metallic finish. These are wrapped in 225/60R18 tires. For Alphard, Toyota has introduced a new PHEV Z trim. This is aimed at making the PHEV option more accessible to those who may need it. Earlier, the PHEV option was available exclusively with the Executive Lounge trim.
Alphard PHEV Z variant gets features such as 19-inch wheels (Silver Sputtering), wrapped in 225/55R19 tires. Inside, key features include leather wrapped 3-spoke steering wheel, genuine wood inserts and left and right independent moonroof. Second row seats have power reclining and powered Ottoman heated and ventilated seats.
Tech kit includes a 14-inch HD display audio, 10 speakers and wireless charging. The PHEV Z variant also gets Ultrasuede roof headlining. Toyota has also introduced a new HEV G trim in the Alphard self-charging hybrid lineup. This variant gets enhanced equipment such as 3-eye LED headlamps, LED clearance lamps and LED front fog lamps.
Driver’s seat has 8-way power adjustability, while the front passenger gets a 4-way powered seat. Second row passengers get captain seats, swivel armrest, heated seats and manual Ottoman. Other highlights include a 14-inch HD display audio, 10 speakers, a panoramic view monitor and parking support brake.
Pricing, performance
With the updates, Toyota Alphard and Vellfire are now available at a slightly higher pricing. Alphard is now available at a starting price of JPY 4,970,000 (Rs 29.72 lakh) for the entry-level G variant that uses a petrol engine. The flagship HEV Spacious Lounge model is being offered at JPY 14,850,000 (Rs 88.80 lakh). The updated Vellfire is available in the price range of JPY 6,749,600 to JPY 10,899,900 (Rs 40.36 lakh to Rs 65.18 lakh).
Powertrain options for Alphard and Vellfire have been carried over in the same format. Base variant of the Alphard uses a 182 PS 2.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. In comparison, the Vellfire base variant is equipped with a 279 PS 2.4-litre turbo petrol engine. The other two powertrains, the 250 PS 2.5L Hybrid (HEV) and the 306 PS 2.5L Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), are common to both Vellfire and Alphard. Both models are built on the TNGA-K platform.
