The TV star, famed for portraying Steve McDonald, posted on Instagram on Monday, November 4, detailing the setbacks he faced over the weekend.
Participating in the historic Sotheby's London to Brighton veteran car run, he hit a snag when his classic car suffered a breakdown. Nonetheless, Gregson showcased his resilience by switching vehicles to complete the event.
In his video message, the actor, aged 50, confessed: "Car didn't make it, which is fortuitous because neither have I, I am full of man flu. I thought I could make it, I couldn't so I'm tucked up in a very nice hotel where I am going to sleep and hopefully be alright."
He thanked the British Motorist Museum for lending him a car and expressed his wish to try again next year, whilst also showing appreciation for the crowd's encouragement, describing the occasion as an "amazing event." Elle Mulvaney, Gregson's on-screen daughter Amy Barlow, sent wishes for his quick recovery, commenting: "Feel better soon" alongside a heart emoji. His followers joined in with well-wishes such as "get well soon there Simon" and "hope you feel better soon, get some rest," reports the Mirror.
