Devolver has release dates for Mycopunk and Virtue and a Sledgehammer
by Stefan L · tsaDevolver Digital has shared release dates for co-op shooter Mycopunk and the robot bashing narrative of Virtue and a Sledgehammer, both coming in the back half of October.
Virtue and a Sledgehammer will launch for PC on 27th October, the game depicting a destructive way of dealing with one’s trauma. Knock down buildings, smash through walls and crush the robot people or simulacra living there to try and deal with deepseated family issues after the death of your mother.
We played and explored the game’s themes with Creative Director Jordi de Paco earlier this year. Read our full preview here, where we said, “There’s a pleasing balance between these sides of Virtue and a Sledgehammer. Yes, there’s smashing things and delighting in the way that building crumble, but you’re drawn into the various ways that the robots react to you, potentially listening in on their conversations before you smash them to bits, and the shifts to memories and choosing your input into a fractured relationship add depth and meaning to the experience.”
But before then, Mycopunk will emerge from Early Access on 20th October with its 1.0 release for PC and PlayStation 5 – available for £14, or as part of PS Plus Extra/Premium on day one.
There’s a bizarre fungal threat and lifeform spreading across New Atlas, and it’s up to you to gear up, head down, blast mushroom-y enemies, grab gear and get back out. Oh, and you can bring your friends with you.
The 1.0 release of Mycopunk will add a bunch of new content including guns, grenades, modes, maps, a new character, and a bunch of hats!
We previewed its early demo from 2025, saying “From its two mission demo, Mycopunk gives a good first impression. It’s light, it’s fast, it’s a little bit scrappy, and there’s that great art style. As it looks first to a Steam Early Access release, there’s definitely room to grow, and to reveal more of what’s planned. There’s multiple regions down on the planet, there’s more mission types to come, more modifiers, more of a narrative to wrap around things. If you’re looking for a new co-op blaster, this is one to keep an eye on.”
