Carrollton Police rolls out new paleta cart to connect with community

The new cart is bringing Something Good and something sweet to the Carrollton community.

We are in the middle of the hot Texas dog days of summer. And one North Texas police department has figured out a new way to help people cool off.

Carrollton police have expanded its fleet, not with a new patrol car but with a paleta cart.

The department said it is adding the ice cream and cold treats cart as its newest community outreach vehicle to help officers build relationships and bridge gaps within communities while working outside emergencies.

This is the first cart of its kind to roll out in the city.

The cart made its debut over the 4th of July weekend, serving up refreshing paleta while supplies lasted.

The cart will make several more appearances this summer. Locations and times will be posted on Carrollton PD's social pages.
